I became interested in antique cars when my father took me to the Sandwich County Fair in 1959 and I saw a brass era Ford Model T on display. I had 4 paper routes [Chicago Trib, Chicago Sun-Times, Chicago Daily News and the Cicero Life] and began saving for an old car. The summer after 8th grade my dad relented and I started looking at old cars on my bike. I bought a 1940 Ford 2-door sedan for $204.00. While a freshman in college a 1963 Porsche S90 Cabriolet replaced the old Ford. A few years later a 1957 Porsche Speedster and a 1956 Porsche sunroof coupe 4-cam Carrera were added. After 35 years of ownership my 356’s were sold and a 1985 911 3.2 Carrera and a 1972 911T came along. I am also committed to the brass era with a 1907 Cadillac and 1915 Autocar truck both of which have completed the week long event “New London to New Brighton”.
I have worked at CPS for 10 years starting when Bob had only 8 cars. Prior to that I worked 41 years in the graphic arts.
